Being a designer builder
was a dream I had to fight for.
I grew up in a family where success usually meant becoming an engineer or a doctor. So for a long time, I followed the expected path and studied Computer Science and Data Science.
Along the way, I realized I was not only interested in how systems worked. I cared just as much about how people experienced them, where they felt stuck, and what made a product feel intuitive.
That curiosity is what pulled me into design.
I taught myself at night, freelanced while working part-time, and gradually built my way into product design. Over the years, I have helped launch products from scratch across multiple startups, turning early ideas into experiences people actually use.
My background in data still shapes how I work. I believe strong product design sits at the intersection of collaboration, experimentation, and evidence, so I use workshops, rapid prototyping, and data-informed thinking to help teams make better decisions.
Today, I work as a Senior Product Designer at Miro, focused on Growth and AI. Most of my work is about helping powerful products feel easier to understand, easier to adopt, and more meaningful in people's daily workflows.
In practice, that means operating across product design, growth design, AI design, and product strategy, especially on problems where onboarding, activation, and behavior change matter.
I didn't leave engineering behind.
I just chose to build in a more human way.
My journey
Something I get asked a lot is: Ben, why do you have so much time outside of work? My answer is: I have no idea.

Values I believe in.
The way I work is shaped as much by values as it is by craft. These are the principles I come back to when teams get messy, ambiguous, or high-stakes.
Disagree, but commit.
I care a lot about the quality of the work, so I speak up when I think something is off. But once a direction is chosen, I commit fully — teams move faster when people stop protecting their own opinions and start executing together.
A sports-team mindset.
The best teams feel coordinated, honest, and resilient. They celebrate wins together, learn from losses without drama, and keep showing up for one another when the work gets hard.
Be kind, be true, be you.
I'd rather work with people who are real than people who are polished. Kindness is not weakness, and honesty is not rudeness. They're usually the foundation for trust, clarity, and long-term collaboration.
What I do outside of work.
I invest a lot in community.
Meeting people, mentoring designers, and building community gives me energy. That is a big reason I helped start a mentorship and design community with friends in Taiwan, which has since grown into one of the largest design communities there.
I am also a photographer.
Photography is one of the reasons I became a designer in the first place. I love paying attention to people, light, and small moments that would otherwise pass by unnoticed. I have been taking photos for more than ten years, and I still see it as one of the best ways to sharpen observation and taste.

Let's chat if you are on a mission to make the world better.
I care most about working on products that leave people a little better off than before. If you are building something thoughtful, useful, and genuinely good for the world, I would be happy to talk.
